Catrice - I Scream Peach with MNY 142A

Hello everyone. I'm back this week with a polish post. I was very busy taking in my last few weeks of living in Europe. So today I wanted to show you Catrice I Scream Peach. I picked it up recently off the clearance rack. If you want this, make sure to get your hand on it soon! It's been discontinued this month.

I Scream Peach is a really pretty bright coral. It applied so nicely in two coats. I just love love this color! I'm so glad I picked it up before I lost the chance.

The next day I put a coat of MNY 142A. 142A is from the I am a Glitterati LE that was released mid-August. It's got small silver glitter bits that are holo in the sun and it also has a few bits of silver hex glitter. Unfortunately the hex glitter was impossible to get on the nail. :(

Fourth of July Manicure

Happy Fourth of July to the American ladies home and abroad! This is my third 4th of July I've spent in Switzerland. I also officially moved to Zurich last year on the 4th. I've never really got to celebrate much year. The first year we grilled out the day before and I wore my flag t-shirt, the 2nd year we were at the Zurifest and watched a bizarre dragon boat firework show, this year I spent the evening alone but ate every usual thing I could. Chicken breast, corn on the cob, blueberry muffins, and coca cola. When I'm done writing this I'm breaking out the watermelon!

Here are the different polishes I used for my manicure.

Color Club - Art of Seduction, MNY 661, Milani - Ruby Jewels, Nivea - White, N.Y.C. White Lights Glitter

First, I used two coats of MNY 661 as the base color. Then I used two coats of N.Y.C White Lights Glitter. I did the glitter gradient with Color Club Art of Seduction. Lots of different coats of glitter for that. I think I had to paint it on at least five times for the gradient.

The flag on my thumb had a base coat of Milani - Ruby Jewels. I used a paint brush to create the rectangle with MNY 661, Sally Hansen nail art pen for the dots, and the Nivea White to make the stripes. Obviously it's not totally accurate, but it's a lot harder than it looks!

You can really see the between coat of N.Y.C. White Lights Glitter in these photos. Which is a lovely color btw. I'm going to need to use it again soon.

 

 Here is the right hand. It's got dented a bit on two nails since the glitter didn't dry to well.

What's your favorite way to celebrate the 4th? Or to celebrate your nation's important holiday? Swiss National Day is August 1st but it's pretty tame compared to American fourth of July.

MNY - 661 & China Glaze - Cracked Concrete

Tuesday is a great holiday in Switzerland. The stores finally start opening up after the Easter break. Which means that all the Easter candy is 1/2 off! I went out specifically to hunt for some Lindt Chocolate Bunnies. I was also naughty and got some goodies from the MNY display

So the new polish I want to show off is MNY 661. It's a bright bright blue with an icy blue-silver shimmer. I used three coats for this manicure.

The application from MNY is pretty decent for the price. These are about $4 a piece. If you're not aware MNY is a branch of Maybelline that is geared towards teens and preteens.

After wearing this for the most of the day I wanted to add a bit of crackle to it. I think the weather today in Zurich was an inspiration for this. It switched back and forth between bright blue skies to gray. So I pulled out one of the China Glaze Crackle Glazes.

I popped one coat of Cracked Concrete to create this look. The first few times I tried the Crackle Glazes I was a bit unsure how I liked them. They are a bit more finicky than other crackles I've tried, but eventually I got the application down on this. You really need to make a thick coat to get the big cracks.

I like how the blue peaks through the grey! Any of you have good crackle combination's you like?

alessandro - Streetwear

I've been a bit m.i.a. lately. Sorry about that. The last few manicures I've worn weren't able to be photographed. So I've run out of pictures to post. Today I have a new polish to show you. I absolutely love it and when I saw it out on display I snatched it up. Thought about the price for .001 seconds and said to heck with it. The mini bottles from Alessandro are extremely expensive when you consider you get 5ml for $7. But they come out with some rocking colors and the formula is buttery smooth.

Streetwear is a dusty purple. It kind of reminds me of a lighter and prettier version of Chanel Paradoxal. Two coats covered fine, but I added a third for good measure. The color has a lighter purple shimmer that kind of makes the polish look like a space galaxy on milky and iridescent.

I also picked up two polishes from the MNY winter line. I've tried the blue one. I say that they are best used for layering as they are pretty sheer. I need to experiment with them first.

There was also a very glittery product twinkling in the light at the MNY display. It's a limited edition glitter mascara. You need a few coats to get enough on your lashes, but it's really awesome and sticks well enough that I didn't have glitter all over my eyes later.

MNY - 306A

Today I want to share another from MNY. The brand is growing on me and I'm a little excited to see what colors they bring out for the holidays. The color I'm going to show you can currently be found in the Jungle Chick display. I chose 306A which is a very dark green with lighter yellow-green glitter flakes mixed in it. I'm sorry that the photos don't really capture the glitter that great. I didn't look at the photos till after I took off my manicure. Oops. I used three coats and the wear was just so-so. I've been having problems in general with my polish chipping and I think I need to try some different base/top coats.

MNY 265 - Red Jelly With Subtle Holo Glitter

I showed a preview picture of this bottle a while ago and today I finally have some swatches of it to show you. This MNY 265 and it's a cherry red jelly with a subtle holo glitter suspended in it. It's a gorgeous color and if you have access to it you should definitely buy it.

MNY stands for Maybelline New York so you may be familiar with the brand but the MNY section is only available in Germany, Norway, and Sweden from my understanding. It's also available here in Switzerland. They have a wide range of cosmetics in many colors. I would say that the prices are cheap when you compare it to the regular Maybelline line, Nivea, and Loreal. Most of the products are between $4-7 USD. I believe this polish was $3.95 CHF.

I tried my best to capture the whole, but like most things, it's better in real life the in the photos. I used four coats of polish.
