A Few Shades from OPI Germany Collection

I've been gently buying a few of these here and there when I can get them with a good deal. I've bought 6 colors from the collection so far and haven't paid much more than $3.50 a piece for them. Overall, I really liked the collection. The ones I will show you today are Don't Talk Bach To Me,  Deutsch You Want Me Baby, and Nein! Nein! OK Fine! The other three I bought were  My Very First Knockwurst, Schnapps Out of It!, and Danke-shiny Red. I'm hoping I'll pick up Every Month Is Oktoberfest and German-icure eventually! Maybe Berlin There, Done That... Then I'm done. (That's what we all say and then we buy them all).

My husband is German so I find some of the names hilarious. The first one I will show you is Don't Talk Bach To Me. Pretty much spotted in the collection as the ugly color. Yes it's ugly in the bottle but on the nail not to bad. It's a sort of yellowish-green with a silver micro-shimmer. I used two coats.

The color kind of reminds me of the fruit die Quitte which I think is Quince in English. It has the same sort of color to it. We use the jam to make our Christmas Bratapfeln (baked apples).

The next color I'll show you is called Deutsch You Want Me Baby. It's a rusty fall orange that is packed full of metallic shimmer. It looked like it was glowing when I had it on. This was definitely a surprise favorite for me! I used two coats.

 

The last one is Nein! Nein! OK Fine! Which is a dark slate gray, which leans a little green. I used two coats. My photos on this were less than spectacular but I still wanted to share.

Catrice - I Scream Peach with MNY 142A

Hello everyone. I'm back this week with a polish post. I was very busy taking in my last few weeks of living in Europe. So today I wanted to show you Catrice I Scream Peach. I picked it up recently off the clearance rack. If you want this, make sure to get your hand on it soon! It's been discontinued this month.

I Scream Peach is a really pretty bright coral. It applied so nicely in two coats. I just love love this color! I'm so glad I picked it up before I lost the chance.

The next day I put a coat of MNY 142A. 142A is from the I am a Glitterati LE that was released mid-August. It's got small silver glitter bits that are holo in the sun and it also has a few bits of silver hex glitter. Unfortunately the hex glitter was impossible to get on the nail. :(

Essence - Wear Your Little Tutu / Water Marble

So at the moment the LE for essence is Ballerina Backstage. The polishes didn't really wow me too much, but I used to take ballet classes for 12+ years, so I wanted to pick something up. I chose the baby pink called Wear Your Little Tutu. Figured maybe I could find a nicer baby pink, then what I have in my stash.

Unfortunately, Wear Your Little Tutu is like most baby pinks and it needed four coats. It did dry nicely and I didn't have dents so it's worth keeping! I like that the color tone leans a bit salmon in color. There is also a little bit of pink shimmer, but it's hard to notice.

Two days later I was craving a water marble. I haven't tried one for almost a year.  I made a tutorial last August on how to do one if you're interested. This time instead of tape I used Vaseline on my fingers. I prefer the tape. The Vaseline was very messy and removing the extra polish with q-tips was a pain.

I used Wear Your Little Tutu as the base color and I watermarbled with the colors shown below.

I water marbled really fast this time around. It took me about 30 minutes start to finish.

I really like this color combination. Especially in this shot.

And the shot of the right hand never as good as the left. Doesn't help that my nails are shorter, I suppose.

Cult Nails - Captivated

I wore this last week for two days. Cult Nails - Captivated is a polish packed full of glitter in a tinted orange coral base.

I used three coats for this and it's pretty opaque at that point. It's a bit gooey but I think that's to be expected of a glitter polish. Check out all the shades of glitter. I love the little specks of blue glitter and the gold really  contrasts nicely against the orange coral base.

The picture below is my favorite. So pretty and it just sparkles!

Essence - Sun Club Bondi Beach Collection Part 1

This is the newest trend collection on display by Essence. I grabbed all five of the nail polishes from the display. Find part 2 here.

L-R: Golden Sands, Orange Sunset, Chasing Waves, Pink Heart, Splash Refresh

So far I've worn three of them that I would like to show you today. I'll follow up during the weekend with the two blues after I've worn them.

First up is the more unique finish of the five. Golden Sands is a golden bronze shimmer with little flecks of gold flaked glitter.It took three coats to get totally opaque. Application was pretty easy considering I did my nails in really dim light.

Orange Sunset is the bright orange. A pretty awesome pigmented orange polish too. I used two coats but one could be possible if your careful. It looked great on my nails and really cute on my toes now too.

Pink Heart is the bright and playful pink. Applied so smoothly in two coats and like Orange Sunset could of easily been one coat but I needed to fix up the unevenness by the cuticles and used two coats. Out of the collection this was the one that didn't wow me that much. But it's so shiny and bright that I'm really enjoying it.

These retailed for $2.95 CHF which is about $3.40 USD. The bottle size is 11 mL so a great price for a lot of polish and great application.

American Apparel - Poppy and Colorama - Sonic Sunset

Eek, I was a bit stressed for the last week. I was sick with a nasty cold, went on a special tour of a mountain, had my 22 birthday!, house guests, and then Easter all in the last week. I've also been really homesick but I've thankfully gotten over that a bit now. :)

So today I have a polish that was requested by Hermetic back in January when I was looking for a bit of inspiration. I am also featuring another polish that quite a few people wanted to see too!

American Apparel Poppy is a really pretty and bright orange red polish. A creme that applies beautifully in two coats. Once you get used to the long brush it applies very easily.

Now here comes the part where I put magical flakes over Poppy. Maybe about 6 years ago Maybelline had a polish line called Colorama that was introduced to the US. It was pretty affordable and had a wide range of colors. They also had a few different types of effect top coats. Today I'm going to show off #27 Sonic Sunset.

I used two coats of Sonic Sunset over Poppy. Sonic Sunset has various sized of orange, gold flakes. It's just gorgeous, especially over a bright orange.

I tried to get as many angles as I could of this. I even did a bit of super macro too! You click on course to see a bigger picture. Isn't it gorgeous?

I remember the displays for this back when they were first introduced. Nowadays, if you search a bit you can find them in packs at the Dollar Store or Big Lots. I found this one in a set of three at Big Lots for $2.

Pieces - Candy Dandy with Kiko 237

Today I'm going to show you a polish from Pieces called Candy Dandy. I think the Pieces shop I went to in Berlin had just opened because I paid three euros for three polishes and I actually think they retail for more usually. The shop in Zurich sells them for four francs.

Candy Dandy is an orange red creme. It applied a bit gooey and the brush is nothing special. But it dried fast and smooth. I used three coats.

Afterwards, I applied two coats of Kiko 237. Kiko 237 is basically an orange sparkle glitter top coat. It has a sheer orange red base with flecks of gold glitter and you might notice a hot pink fleck glitter in there too. I think it looks pretty spectacular over Candy Dandy.

Pretty, don't you think!? You have to be a fan of orange nail polishes I suppose to really love it.

OPI - Big Hair… Big Nails & Too Hot Pink to Hold ‘Em

Saturday my friend took me to a beauty supply house on Saturday. Which enabled me to get the last two OPI Texas jellies to complete the 6 jelly finish collection they released. I also purchased a few other items that I'm sure will show up on here eventually.

First up is Big Hair... Big Nails. I used three coats for this and it applied like a dream at each coat. The polish is not liquidity at all which is amazing when you consider how sheer it is to create the jelly finish. I would best describe this shade as a coral that leans orange. On my nail wheels I have it in orange.

Too Hot Pink to Hold 'Em is a lovely hot pink jelly. I used three coats for this and like the rest of the OPI jelly colors this applied beautifully.

A Few OPI Texas Jelly Finish Swatches

Well, today I couldn't help myself and swatched four colors from the OPI Texas collection. All four are the jelly finish or sorbet as OPI is calling it. I used three coats for all of these. I'm in love with all of them! They are so squishy! You can still see VNL at three coats, but it's barely noticeable and I think it works with the style of the polish.

Y'all Come Back Ya Hear? is a vibrant orange. Besides being a sheer jelly it applied very nicely and the build up to three coats was very easy to do.

 

Houston We Have a Purple is a vibrant, almost neon purple. I love the name on this one because Houston is my birth city. Same nice application as before aka perfect!

Do You Think I'm Tex-y? is a very pretty vibrant pink, almost like strawberry jam on your nails. 

Guy Meets Gal-veston is the coral of the bunch and my favorite of the colors I've shown today.

So what do you think of the OPI jelly/sorbet finishes?

I really love them and will eventually purchase the other two to add to my ever growing nail polish collection.
