China Glaze - Ick-A-Bod-Y

Sorry I was MIA for a few days.  I hurt my back carrying the groceries home on Tuesday and I've had problems since. Yesterday I started to tear up it hurt so bad. I've suffered from back problems before, but lifting heavy things makes it worse. Today is a little better and I hope that I'm back to my normal on Saturday because we are driving to Adelboden. It's up in the mountains and was actually where I lived last summer. So I'm really excited to go back again.

On to the nail polish... Today I'm going to show you Ick-A-Bod-Y from China Glaze's Halloween collection. It has an olive green base with orange glitter. I only used two coats of this because I wanted to try and still have the base color visible.

You can sort of see the base, but you can also tell that the glitter is hard to manage. Overall still a very awesome color!

Something Different Sunday's: The Essentials of My Make-up Eyes/Lips

Now to continue on with the essentials that I packed for my move to Switzerland. Let's start out with the eyes. I brought with me a total of 10 eye shadows and 1 shadow liner all from Bare Minerals. They retail for $13 a piece. However the best deals are to be found when you purchase them in gift sets which is how I purchased most of my eyeshadow from them. I have at least 20 more eye shadows that I had to leave at my parents for safe keeping. So the ones I'm showing you are my top 10 favorites. The first three I'm showing are the newest. The rest is fairly old and many of which are discontinued. I must say that the newer shadows are much more pigmented and smoother than the old ones.

These are the seven eye shadow brushes I brought with me. I'm just going to give links to the ones I can still find online. Most of my shadow brushes are the Bare Essentials because they are high quality and sturdy, plus I get a lot of them in gifts sets I've bought. I have at least another 10 Bare Essential brushes back home.

Next stop Mascara...

I'm blessed with fairly long eye lashes so when I'm buying mascara I'm the two keys things I want is a mascara that doesn't clump or flake. These two mascaras from Clinique do a very good job at meeting those guidelines. Both these shades are black and the little white tube is a trial size I got in a bonus buy. I have a full size version in the closet that I will open up when these two are empty.

- High Lengths Mascara The brush is odd, but as long as you don't put too much mascara on the brush it works perfectly! $14

- High Impact Mascara It gives good volume and length without clumping. $14


- E.L.F. Eyelash Curler I paid $1 for this. It does the job, but I really need to get a higher quality eyelash curler.

I want to add a big reason why I only by Clinique mascara. It's because when you go to their make up counter at a department store and want to try one of their mascaras they have disposable wands that match the brush in each of their mascaras. So if you want to try the High Lengths Mascara but are worried that you might have problems with the odd brush you can actually try the odd brush before you buy it.

Now to the lips. These are all chap sticks/lip glosses from Nivea. If you live in Europe you can find similar products from Labello (aka Nivea) I also use Carmex but I couldn't find mine to take a picture of.

I became hooked on Nivea lip products at the beginning of the year. Mainly the kiss of  moisture stick and then I continued to buy other lip products from Nivea. The chap sticks keep my lips, silky and moisturized and the glosses add a nice hint of color.

That's what a tube of Carmex looks like. I bring this out when my lips are dry and cracked. It's a lifesaver and really helps heal you chapped lips. My mom used this stuff on me when I was in Kindergarten. Plus it's made in my home state of Wisconsin. And it's still run by the founder's family! It's widely available all over the world so look for it in your supermarkets folks. If you live in the US you can request a free sample here. While on their website, I noticed that they make lotion now too! So I will look for that next time I'm in the states.

Something Different Sunday's - The Essentials of My Make-up Foundations/Powders/Blush

When I started packing for my move to Switzerland I had limited space for make-up. I don't wear it often, but I seem to have a lot of it. I went through all my make-up before I left and tossed a lot of it and reorganized the rest into a big black caboodle train case. That train case was too large and heavy to bring with me so I picked out what I thought were the essentials to bring with me to Switzerland.

All my make-up fits into this bag that I got as a Clinique bonus.

Foundations/Powders/Blush...

 

I'll start with the products I use from Clinique.

- Perfectly Real Makeup I wear shade 2 which is the one of the lightest colors. It looks very natural on your face and blends really nicely with the beauty blender makeup sponge I use. I'm running out and could really use more so I might need to order some more soon. $23

- Line Smoothing Concealer This is my current under eye concealer. It works well and blends well, but I might try a different concealer from Clinique in the future. The color I use is Moderately Fair and retails for $14.

- Superbalanced Powder Makeup This is a good powder to use over a liquid foundation. However Clinique sells this as a powder foundation with moderate coverage. That's a lie it gives very little coverage and I can't even tell a difference when it's put on my bare face. The one thing I really like about this product is the grinder you turn to get the product out. It helps not have powder all over the place when you open it up. The shade I use is natural 2 and it retails for a steep price of $34.50.

- Redness Solutions Mineral Powder I suffer from extremely bad redness on my face. It's really awful, so I use this before I apply foundation to tone down the redness a bit. It works fairly well. If you click the link you can see that you get a pretty large container of this stuff which is why I have it in a smaller one. This retails for $32.50

Besides the Clinique products, I also use Bare Minerals products. I've been using the foundation on and off for about 6 years.

- Original Foundation I recently bought this after not using their products for over a year and a half. So I was pleasantly surprised that there is now a cap inside that allows you to close the product. Without it causes most of the product to fill up above the insert causing a large mess if you accidentally drop it. I've tried different foundations in my life, but I always keep coming back to this one. It's lightweight and blends nicely into my skin. The product last a long time and a little goes a long way. Large jars are $25.

- Mineral Veil This is the final step after applying make-up. It's translucent and minimizes pores. I've refilled this jar a few times because I don't want to carry around the full sized jars they sell separately. This retails for $19 and is the same size as the foundation jar picture above.

This is the one and only blush, I brought with me. It's a mini version of an old All-Over-Face Color that Bare Minerals use to sell.  I looked this color up and it is discontinued now. So you probably won't be able to get your hands on this. He's a similar product Trudy.

- Beauty Blenders Sorry, these are really dirty and I didn't have time to clean them. These handy little pink make-up sponges are reusable! Along with being reusable, they work flawlessly. This little sponge really blends in my liquid foundation fast and evenly. I bought these two in a set along with the sponge cleanser. If you buy this, make sure to get the cleanser too, it's smells really nice and it's gentle. I use it on my regular brushes too. I'll wash these up and show you how clean they can get some time soon. $19.95 - $39.95 depending on which set you get.

- Clinique Foundation Brush It's a good all over application brush. The one con is that it's really pricey at $30. Also, since I've bough the Beauty Blenders I haven't used it as much. If I was going to choose one over the other I would pick the Beauty Blenders.

- Too Faced Retractable Kabuki Brush If you use powder foundation, then you need to get your hands on this brush. It uses "Teddy Bear Hair" synthetic bristles. This is the softest Kabuki brush that I have ever felt on my face! It's also been the best one I've owned for applying powder foundation. It's priced at $32

- Bare Essentials Angled Face Brush I use this with the all-over-face color. It's just a nice angled face brush not much to it. It's priced at $20. I paid less as I usually buy Bare Mineral's gift sets that include brushes in them as it's a better value.

Something Different Sunday's - My Skincare Products

First, I'm going to start with my skin care products. I will try to link to the products I use so you can see more information.

I buy all my skin care products from Clinique. They are pricier than drugstore brands, but they are familiar to me and I usually don't have problems with their products.

- Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion I've been using this since I was a child. We are talking over 10 years folks! I use about one pump of this stuff after every shower. It's $24 for 4.2oz/125ml and it last pretty long. I've been using this bottle for 3 1/2 months and I'm about 1/3rd of the way through it. So I think it could last for about 8 months.

- 7 Day Scrub I have sensitive skin, but this scrub is fairly kind to my skin. I use it once every 1 or 2 weeks depending on if I need it or not. This is a mini tube that I got as a bonus. The full size bottle retails for $18 and contains 3.4oz.

- Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk I don't have a picture of this because I decanted it into a smaller bottle for travel. It's a really nice make-up remover that doesn't feel to greasy. $25 for 6.7floz/200ml

- Liquid Facial Soap I accidentally left this at home and waiting for my mom to send it to me. This is the soap cleanser I use when washing my face It's very gentle and doesn't irritate my skin. I think my last bottle of this stuff lasted about 7 months, which makes the price of this a steal at $15 for 6.7Oz.

China Glaze - First Class Ticket

First Class Ticket is from the Vintage Vixen Collection that was released in Fall 2010. It's a royal purple based color with tiny flecks of blue shimmer. Sometimes it looks blue but most of the time it's a blurple. I only used two coats for this and I took these pictures outside on a cloudy day.Make sure to click on the photos for a close up view on the blue shimmer.

I took my nail pictures while we were at the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen so I thought I would share some pictures from the Rhine Falls too.
