Cult Nails - My Kind of Cool Aid

I've been a reader of Maria's blog R3Daily  for a few months now. I started reading right around the time that she announced the creation of her own nail polish line. I've been following along as she blogs about the process and was happy to hear that on January 11, 2011 the first color from Cult Nails was available for purchase. I ordered without hesitation and four days later My Kind of Cool Aid arrived to my house in Wisconsin. How amazing and brave was it for her to create her own nail polish line!

The bottle is a stylish round shape with a black cap. The brush works very nicely and you shouldn't have any problems with it. The Cult Nails logo is adorable. If I had taken a picture of the back of the bottle you will find all the ingredients listed. Her polishes are Big 3 Free which means no toluene, Formaldehyde and Dibutyl. Cult Nails polishes also do not contain Phthalate or Camphor. Along without those nasty chemicals the polishes are Vegan friendly. Maria also uses recycled and reusable packaging. She uses cotton balls for extra padding!!

My Kind of Cool Aid is an awesome lavender gray described on the Cult Nails website as "gravender." It's a gorgeous color with a tiny bit of silver shimmer that I had a slight problem capturing with my camera. The formula is buttery smooth and takes two coats, but looks almost perfect at one coat.

The last two pictures were taken in lower light and appear slightly darker.

Cult Nails retail for $10 a bottle over at their online store. The next two colors Iconic and Living Water will be available the 1st or 2nd week of February when the shipment arrives. You now able to pre-order them. I've made my pre-order now my only hope is that they arrive in time before I head back to Switzerland. :)

Models Own - Lime Green & Purple Haze

Sorry I was MIA last week been adjusting to my vacation in the US. I spent the first week visiting family and friends. I also went to every store I missed. Bought lots of nail polish that I missed out on the last sixth months. Tomorrow I'm flying to south Georgia to see my Grandparents till Sunday morning. This post will be a bit short and I'm not sure how many posts I will get in this week.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Models Own Lime Green is a lime creme. It's sheer but builds up nicely at three coats. Application was good.

Right after applying Lime Green I applied a purple glitter from Models Own called Purple Haze. I used one coat.

Eyeko - Cosmic

Tomorrow I'm flying to the US to stay with my family for a month. I'm really excited! I've been living in Switzerland for 6 months 1 week and 3 days. Very crazy. I haven't driven a car or had a Diet Coke. (Okay, I did splurge on an import Diet Coke Lime once.) I don't think my posting will totally drop off the month I'm away but it's possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Eyeko Cosmic is very appropriately named. A glossy black with bits of holographic glitter creating a very cosmic look. I used two coats.

Unfortunately Zurich is not very sunny during winter and I never managed to get a picture of this in the sun. So here it is with my camera's flash.

Have You Seen These Yet? OPI Nail Apps

I took the tram today to Glatt to check out the mall they have. I mostly just wandered around from store to store.  I walked into Douglas (upscale drugstore) and took a look at their OPI display. I was surprised to find these OPI Nail Apps in different patterns.

I looked on OPI's website and I found no information. I looked on google and I only found one website that was showing them and that was in Australia.

They had these priced at $20 each. But most American products are highly marked up. To give you an idea a full size bottle of OPI nail polish is $27

Anyone else seen these? I didn't buy any because of the price. Hoping they are available in the US sometime so I can try them.

Manhattan - Diamond Edition 45N & 610W

These polishes were released by Manhattan for Winter 2010 in a collection called Diamond Edition. The first one I'll show is 45N a red with a tinge of pink and tiny silver specks of glitter. I used two coats for this.

610W is a plum purple with fine silver glitter. I used two coats for this one too.

OPI - Mod About You & Barry M - Silver Cascade

For New Year's Eve, I wanted a glittery manicure. I started out with OPI Mod About You from the 2006 Brights Collection. This color is not easy to work with the formula is crap and it stinks. I needed four coats to smooth everything out. I dealt with it because it is the perfect bright light pink and I've got noting similar to it.

The next step was putting the glitter on. I used Barry M Silver Cascade. It's a multi colored glitter in a sheer pink base. This picture shows it as only one coat over Mod About You. As you can see the sheer pink base has changed up Mod About You.
Here are three coats of Silver Cascade. These pictures were taken on New Year's Day the manicure is pretty much wrecked at this point. Mod About You never really dried so the manicure was still tacky when I took it off 24 hours later.
