A Happy Day

The 18th was my birthday! I had a pretty nice time. I spent the afternoon in the city exploring and doing a little shopping. :) I kind of mapped out my day with Instagram pictures. I'm allibally on there if you would like to follow. I thought I would share my day with you through photo! See my NOTD here.

So I started my afternoon in the city by having a late afternoon lunch at Chick-fil-a. It's a great option to grab a quick lunch and some really tasty lemonade. They also have funny pictures decorating the place. Like this one where the cow is on the EL. ;)

 Then I proceeded to get back on the red line to get farther down state street. I conveniently ended up right outside the giant 4 story Ulta.

Where I promptly bought 3 bottles of shampoo on clearance for $1.99 each and some facial wipes that retail for $3.99. I ended up paying $7.10 for the lot of it. :) The wipes are awesome btw. They smell good, don't burn, and seem to be not irritating my skin.

Then I headed to Urban Outfitters. Where they had one color from the Models Own Beetle Juice Collection. It's Golden Green. They have this and two other colors from this collection on the Urban Outfitters website. Yes, it came home with me. They also had some other nail polish that was interesting.

After a little retail therapy I made my way down towards Millennium Park. Here is some of the stuff I saw on my way.

Now I've reached Millennium Park. The first place I checked out was the Crown Fountain. It's these two pillars that have water featured in them and the faces change on one side of them too. I wanted to check this out again because they just turned the water on in the last few days. If you visit Chicago with kids go to Millennium Park at the end of your day or pack some extra clothes. It's too tempting to not get a little wet. ;)

Then the other thing to check out is the Cloud Gate aka the bean. It's a giant mirrored shape bean. Looks awesome and a popular spot for pictures.

Cult Nails - Let Me Fly

I really did let myself fly over the weekend. By finally cutting off around 7-8 inches of my hair. I've had it really long for about three years now. It was definitely time to say goodbye since I was dealing with terrible tangles and breakage. I was having glob conditioner in my hair and then comb through it with my tangle teezer just to manage it.

I went in with the intent of only cutting it just above my shoulders but next thing I know I'm agreeing to chop it into a short and edgy bob.

Short and sleek! Now on to my weekend manicure which was Cult Nails - Let Me Fly. A beautiful dark and dusty turquoise shade with flecks of silver shimmer.

My hairdresser and the sales lady at Ulta both complimented the color and asked what it was. Way to go Maria for creating a noticeable nail polish color!

I also gave my parent's next door neighbor girls manicures too, while I was visiting. The oldest girl picked Let Me Fly as her base color and then Cult Nails - Vicious as her polka dots.

The younger one picked Vicious as her base and the Let Me Fly for her polka dots and then on her other fingers, she had Cult Nails - Awakening as the base with a coat of Cult Nails Hypnotize Me.

Something Different Sunday: Furka Pass/Rhone Glacier, Switzerland

At the beginning of the month when my mom was visiting, we decided to rent a car for the day and do some sightseeing. One of our two stops of the day was to drive up the Furka Pass to check out the Rhone Glacier.

The Furka Pass goes through the Alps and the highest point is 7,992 ft! So you can imagine that it was a very winding drive up to the top. It was very scenic though! A little fact for you... They filmed parts of James Bond Goldfinger here.

Hardcore bicyclists were biking up to the top of the pass too! It was interesting to see them and I give them tons of credit for biking this!

Of course, no trip to the Swiss countryside can be complete without a cow picture. :) Close your eyes and you can hear their bells ringing too.

Look groundhogs! I was so surprised to see them. I've had a hard time finding wildlife, while living in Switzerland. Odd, I know, but I guess I'm oblivious to it.

Here is the Rhone Glacier. Even though it looks pretty massive it used to be a lot bigger. :(

Something Different Sunday: Mount Titlis

My time in Switzerland is starting to come to a close. I will arrive back in Wisconsin on the 27th of September. So I only have a few more opportunities to show you little pieces of my life in Switzerland.

During the first week of August my mom was visiting in Switzerland. It was great to see her and we had a lot of fun. One of the main things I wanted to do with her was taking her to the top of one of the mountains. Just happened to get lucky and got discount codes for the gondola ride up Mount Titlis. We took the train for 45 minutes to Luzern and then switched trains to Engelberg which took another 45 minutes.

Once we got to Engelberg we headed to the cable car station to make our way to Mount Titlis. It involved taking three different cable cars for us to get to the top.

This was the second cable car we took.

At the top you are 10,000 feet up (3020M). The views are just amazing! Let's ignore how squinty my eyes are in all the pictures you will see today. It was so sunny and I managed to get a bit sunburned on my face too.

A lot of the times the views were just so unreal! Some of my pictures looked as if they were paintings. So breathtaking. :)

The last cable car you take. It has a floor that rotates inside so you can see the whole panorama.

Once you are at the top of Mount Titlis you can take another small cable car called the Ice Flyer. They fly you over some of the ice and then at the bottom you can go tubing! Of course I took advantage of this! I can't believe I went sledding in August.
