Something Different Sunday - Make-Up Spam

On Friday my mom and I drove to Milwaukee to check out the mall. This particular mall has a Sephora store. I spent a while in there checking out the new stuff. When eventually I was at the clearance display and found this wonderful kit from Bare Minerals called Shimmer & Shine marked down to $45. I have been looking at this set for the few months online trying to decide if I really liked it or not. But when I opened it up at Sephora to check out the products I had to have it.

It's a really nice set of four eyeshadows (Shimmer (frosted cappuccino), Flicker (burnished violet), High Shine Gold Medal (pale gold), and High Shine Vapor (graphite)) Along with a black eyeliner, Full Tapered Blush & Eye Brush, two large lip glosses Sprinkles (diamond shimmer) & Twist (tulip pink), Clear Radiance All-Over Face Color, and Pink Petal Blush. The blush is not shown because it's really pink and thus I passed it on to my mom since I don't wear blush.


Besides the blush, I love all the colors and products in this set and can't wait to mess around with it a bit. I love the two full sized lipsticks especially Twist the tulip pink color.

I also added to my Urban Decay eye pencil collection. Well, I'm new to Urban Decay eye pencils because I just got my first two about a week ago. They had a medium sized Urban Decay pencils in a little set of two for $15. So my mom and I each got one with different colors. Then we switched our colors in the set and I ended up with Stash and Rockstar. Then Friday I added to the collection the full sized version of 1999. I love all three of these! They just glide right on an last forever! I really want the anniversary set which contains 15 full sized eye pencils and sharpener for $92. The upfront cost is expensive but if you calculate it's only $6 a pencil far less than the usual price of $17. I'm going to start hinting this set to my husband and mom for a birthday gift. hehe

I've also started using the sample size of Too Faced Shadow Insurance that I've had hidden away for months. It's really making a difference in keeping my shadows on. So here are a few EOTD I've worn.

Something Different Sunday: Late Christmas Photos

For those who celebrate Christmas I hope you had a nice two days. I had a great Christmas this year. I celebrated on the 24th and had a goose for dinner. This was the first time I've ever had goose. It was okay, but it don't wow me. I much prefer Turkey as it has more white meat.

Table set for dinner. Those plates from the COOP. I was saving stickers up and placing them on the discount card for the last month and a half. The two sets totaled $27 not to shabby for Switzerland.

Then I started to open presents that my parent's thoughtfully sent to me.

A Japanese friend who I went to college sent me a traditional bamboo ornament called a Kadomatsu to set up for New Year's. Now to think of something traditionally Swiss to send her. :)

alessandro - Streetwear

I've been a bit m.i.a. lately. Sorry about that. The last few manicures I've worn weren't able to be photographed. So I've run out of pictures to post. Today I have a new polish to show you. I absolutely love it and when I saw it out on display I snatched it up. Thought about the price for .001 seconds and said to heck with it. The mini bottles from Alessandro are extremely expensive when you consider you get 5ml for $7. But they come out with some rocking colors and the formula is buttery smooth.

Streetwear is a dusty purple. It kind of reminds me of a lighter and prettier version of Chanel Paradoxal. Two coats covered fine, but I added a third for good measure. The color has a lighter purple shimmer that kind of makes the polish look like a space galaxy on milky and iridescent.

I also picked up two polishes from the MNY winter line. I've tried the blue one. I say that they are best used for layering as they are pretty sheer. I need to experiment with them first.

There was also a very glittery product twinkling in the light at the MNY display. It's a limited edition glitter mascara. You need a few coats to get enough on your lashes, but it's really awesome and sticks well enough that I didn't have glitter all over my eyes later.

Barry M Swap!

About a month ago, Hailey from lilmissgiggles mentioned she wanted to do a swap with someone. I mentioned that I would love to do one. So we began collecting things for each other. I sent her a bunch of essence, catrice, and MNY and she sent me Barry M. We sent packages out on the same day. The one she sent me arrived in a week. The one I sent her is probably floating across the English Channel in a plastic boat at the moment. Swiss post is extremely slow... Like really slow, especially when you send via B Post (economy). I hope you get it soon Hailey!

Hailey gave me pretty much free reign on what to buy her. I on the other hand was difficult. I can research products for hours before I will buy them. I just don't like buying shades that don't match what I like. Hailey was very kind and found stuff off my list. Thank you!

Now to continue on with the essentials that I packed for my move to Switzerland. Let's start out with the eyes. I brought with me a total of 10 eye shadows and 1 shadow liner all from Bare Minerals. They retail for $13 a piece. However the best deals are to be found when you purchase them in gift sets which is how I purchased most of my eyeshadow from them. I have at least 20 more eye shadows that I had to leave at my parents for safe keeping. So the ones I'm showing you are my top 10 favorites. The first three I'm showing are the newest. The rest is fairly old and many of which are discontinued. I must say that the newer shadows are much more pigmented and smoother than the old ones.

These are the seven eye shadow brushes I brought with me. I'm just going to give links to the ones I can still find online. Most of my shadow brushes are the Bare Essentials because they are high quality and sturdy, plus I get a lot of them in gifts sets I've bought. I have at least another 10 Bare Essential brushes back home.

Next stop Mascara...

I'm blessed with fairly long eye lashes so when I'm buying mascara I'm the two keys things I want is a mascara that doesn't clump or flake. These two mascaras from Clinique do a very good job at meeting those guidelines. Both these shades are black and the little white tube is a trial size I got in a bonus buy. I have a full size version in the closet that I will open up when these two are empty.

- High Lengths Mascara The brush is odd, but as long as you don't put too much mascara on the brush it works perfectly! $14

- High Impact Mascara It gives good volume and length without clumping. $14


- E.L.F. Eyelash Curler I paid $1 for this. It does the job, but I really need to get a higher quality eyelash curler.

I want to add a big reason why I only by Clinique mascara. It's because when you go to their make up counter at a department store and want to try one of their mascaras they have disposable wands that match the brush in each of their mascaras. So if you want to try the High Lengths Mascara but are worried that you might have problems with the odd brush you can actually try the odd brush before you buy it.

Now to the lips. These are all chap sticks/lip glosses from Nivea. If you live in Europe you can find similar products from Labello (aka Nivea) I also use Carmex but I couldn't find mine to take a picture of.

I became hooked on Nivea lip products at the beginning of the year. Mainly the kiss of  moisture stick and then I continued to buy other lip products from Nivea. The chap sticks keep my lips, silky and moisturized and the glosses add a nice hint of color.

That's what a tube of Carmex looks like. I bring this out when my lips are dry and cracked. It's a lifesaver and really helps heal you chapped lips. My mom used this stuff on me when I was in Kindergarten. Plus it's made in my home state of Wisconsin. And it's still run by the founder's family! It's widely available all over the world so look for it in your supermarkets folks. If you live in the US you can request a free sample here. While on their website, I noticed that they make lotion now too! So I will look for that next time I'm in the states.
